On the morning of June 5th, a delegation led by Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, President of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), visited Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST). A cooperation negotiation meeting was held between the two sides, with President Wang Hua in attendance. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Yi Jianhong.
Wang Hua welcomed Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail and his delegation and introduced the construction and development of KUST in recent years. He stated that UTM, a prominent Malaysian university known for its distinctive science and engineering disciplines, aligns well with the academic disciplines and educational strengths of KUST. He hoped that both sides would continue to enhance communication, work together for mutual improvement, and deepen collaboration in broader areas at more profound levels to jointly promote high-quality development of the two universities.

Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail gave a general overview of UTM. He expressed that UTM has extensive experience in cross-border education and a comprehensive quality assurance system. He hoped both universities would enhance collaboration in education and scientific research.
During the meeting, both sides reached a consensus on jointly establishing a non-independent legal entity for Chinese-foreign cooperative education, teacher and student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation. Wang Hua and Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail signed a collaborative agreement on behalf of their respective universities.
During the visit, Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail and his delegation visited the library, Yunnan Earthquake Engineering Technology Center, the Key Laboratory of Disaster Prevention in Civil Engineering, Yunnan Province, and the Dynamic Simulation Laboratory. They engaged in detailed discussions with faculty members from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanics and the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering regarding laboratory construction and industry services. Additionally, they delivered academic presentations titled“My Academic and Research Journey” and “The Impact of Hydrological Effects of Vegetation on Geotechnical Slope Stability” to the faculty and students of KUST.
