From December 14th to 16th, the 2023 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application International Cooperation Seminar on Metallurgy and Energy was held in Kunming. It is a sub-forum of the 6th Forum on Education Cooperation in South and Southeast Asia, hosted by the National Center for Schooling Development Programme of the Ministry of Education, and jointly organized by the Department of Education of Yunnan Province and KUST. Liu Dianwen, Vice President of KUST, and Bian Zhengfu, Vice President of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), attended the opening ceremony.

On behalf of KUST, Liu delivered a speech. He hoped that the seminar would serve as a platform to give full play to the characteristics and advantages of all attending parties, to further deepen the cooperation, exchanges and mutual learning among them, and to provide new impetus to the high-level opening-up of education. He said that KUST would work together with South and Southeast Asian partners to build a new era of international connection, friendship and cooperation. It would accelerate the establishment of the Advanced Research Institute of Green Energy, Mining and Metallurgy, promoting the development of international cooperation on metallurgy and energy to a new stage. Liu also looked forward to more opportunities for face-to-face communication in Kunming next year when KUST celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Bian congratulated KUST for its longstanding achievements cooperating with South and Southeast Asia in industry-education research within the fields of metallurgy and energy. He expressed that the seminar is a concrete action of promoting the development and innovation of the international cutting-edge science and technology of metallurgy and energy, and it is also a vivid practice of transforming scientific achievements into industrialized technologies. Based on the previous good cooperation between the two sides, CUMT will take this seminar as an opportunity to join hands with KUST, to achieve a win-win situation and write a new chapter of international cooperation on metallurgy and energy.
