On the morning of September 26th, the Confucius Institute at Souphanouvong University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the cooperation with Luang Prabang’s Department of Information, Culture and Tourism. The two sides have agreed on the training of staff in “Chinese+Tourism Management”, the Chinese-Lao translation of brochures, logos, and information of Luang Prabang’s culture and tourism, as well as the cooperation in organizing cultural exchanges, conferences, forums and other projects.
Mrs. Soudaphone Khomthavong, director of Luang Prabang’s Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism, said that the MOU is proof of China-Laos friendship and collaboration. Following the MOU, both sides will be committed to cooperating closely to achieve success.
In 2020, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement on projects such as creating Chinese signs and translations of cultural and tourist attractions in the city’s center, and offering training courses on "Chinese+tourism management", which have achieved great success. After the pandemic, with the restart of the projects, further cooperation will be strongly encouraged this time. According to Song Minying, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute.
Suttida, the Laos Director of the Confucius Institute, conveyed his blessings for the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival to the representatives of Luang Prabang’s Department of Information, Culture and Tourism on behalf of the Confucius Institute at Soufanouvong University.
