On September 25th, the “China-German-Laos Int’l Conference on Renewable Energy and Smart Energy” was held online and offline in Kunming, Yunnan Province, and Vientiane, Laos. The conference was attended by Wang Hua, President of KUST, Saysana Sitthiphone, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment of Laos and Vice-Chairman of the China-Laos Cooperation Committee, Professor Michael Zhengmeng Hou, Director of the China Competence Center of the Clausthal University of Technology (TU Clausthal), and Commissioner for China Affairs, and Phouvieng Keoboupha, Director of the Institute of Energy and Mines Research (IEMR) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos. Liu Dianwen, Vice President of KUST, hosted the conference.
The conference was held in two venues, KUST and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos. Participants at the conference discussed the research and development of energy storage, hydrogen energy, and lightweight materials. Additionally, they jointly explored the paths and trends of the integrated development of energy and resources. Professor Michael Zhengmeng Hou and Professor Heinz Palkowski of TU Clausthal, Khamman Vongvansy, Director of the Renewable Energy and New Energy Center of IEMR of Laos, and Professor Xu Mingli of KUST, gave academic reports respectively.
The inaugural ceremony of the China-Laos International Joint Research and Development Centre for Energy and Mineral Analysis and Technological Innovation in Yunnan Province (CIJCETY) was held at IEMR of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos in Vientiane at the same time. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Saysana Sitthiphone. It marks the official establishment of CIJCETY.
Leading representatives and teacher and student delegates from the Division of International Cooperation, the Faculty of Metallurgical and Energy Engineering, the Faculty of Land Resources Engineering and other related faculties and functional departments of KUST, the faculty representatives from TU Clausthal, and the leaders from relevant departments of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos witnessed the inauguration.
