On the afternoon of September 15th, the launch ceremony of KUST’s Study Abroad Programme at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore was held at the Lecture Hall of the National Institute of Education (NIE) of NTU. Teng Bingxiang (Paul Teng), Dean of NIE International, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. The programme executive officers at the NIE and all the programme participants from KUST attended the ceremony.
Paul Teng extended a warm welcome to the participants from KUST to the NIE of NTU. He provided an overview of NIE and NTU, including their histories, developments, as well as the distinctive approach to international education and training. Additionally, Paul Teng introduced the schedule and the curriculum of the programme. He also expressed his hope that all participants would effectively utilize their time to engage in exchanges with relevant faculties at NIE, thus, gaining a deeper understanding of the renowned Singaporean education system, and simultaneously reflecting upon their own career aspirations in conjunction with the development of KUST. It is envisioned that the participants will be able to apply what they have learned into practice.
At the opening ceremony, the head of the delegation of the Study Abroad Programme presented gifts to the NIE on behalf of KUST, and the participant representative made a speech.
Sending faculty to study at NTU is a significant step for KUST in furthering its internationalization strategy as it is heading toward a “Double First-Class” university. The programme also presents a valuable opportunity for the university to explore and practice the construction of first-class teachers, the building of a first-class governance capacity and the deepening of international cooperation and exchange. A total of 36 young and middle-aged key teachers and administrators have been selected for the study abroad programme and it will last 91 days, from September 10th until December 9th. The programme will revolve around the theme of “Double First-Class Construction and Innovation in University Administration and Teaching”. It will employ modular methods, including lectures, seminars, on-site teaching, course experience, experience sharing, and field study. Through a mix of learning activities, participants will focus on assimilating Singapore’s advanced experiences in higher education development, university administration, professional curriculum design, pedagogical reform, student administration and student services, teaching support services, promotion of scientific and technological innovation, and cultivation of campus culture. This programme aims to enhance participants’ professional administrative capabilities and strategic planning abilities, contributing to planning the school development and promoting teacher development, discipline construction, teaching management, and scientific research services.
