Xaysana Sitthiphone and Wang Hua awarded the plaque of CIJCETY (the branch in Vientiane) to the Institute of Energy and Mines of MEM, and president Phouvieng Keoboubpha accepted the plaque.
Thongphat Inthavong pointed out that the tradition of a friendly and cooperative relationship between China and Laos was a solid foundation for the people-to-people exchanges and mutual support between the two countries. The close exchanges, visits, and cooperation in key areas between the two countries have greatly deepened such a relationship. Based on their own advantages, KUST and MEM had conducted extremely practical cooperation in talent training and the joint R&D centre building, which manifests a deeper China-Laos relationship.
Xaysana Sitthiphone congratulated CIJCETY for the inauguration, and he believed that the building of this centre will further enhance the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and Laos. As neighbours, Yunnan and Laos have significant potential for cooperation. LCCC will fully support the cooperation between Yunnan and Laos in science and technology, education, and promote the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future.
Wang Xueqin pointed out that in recent years, Yunnan, following the principle of “mutual benefits, win-win, as well as common development”, has constantly strengthened its cooperation with Laos in science and technology, and taken measures like scientific and cultural exchanges, joint laboratory building, scientific and technological park cooperation, and technology transfer. Its diversified scientific and technological cooperation with Laos has delivered remarkable results in various forms, which has brought a new driving force for stimulating the vitality of regional scientific and technological innovation and made positive contributions to promoting China-Laos exchanges. It is an important means of promoting international scientific and technological cooperation to support innovative entities in Yunnan to cooperate with other countries to jointly build international innovative platforms. He hoped that both sides can make CIJCETY high-quality by adhering to the principle of "co-construction, co-management, and sharing", so as to make more contributions to better scientific and technological innovation in the field of regional energy.
Wang Hua reviewed the long-term and fruitful educational exchanges and cooperation between KUST and Laos, introduced the achievements KUST had made in recent years, and expressed gratitude to LCCC, MEM, CIJCETY, and OMES for their long-term concern and support for the development of the university. KUST attaches great importance to the cooperative projects with MEM. The implementation of these projects will help Laos turn its advantages in energy and mines into economic ones and is of great significance in promoting Laos' economic development, people's well-being, and employment. KUST will unswervingly protect the China-Laos friendship with concrete actions.
During the event, the delegation visited the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics, the Faculty of Information Engineering and Automation, and the Key Laboratory of the Faculty of Metallurgical and Energy Engineering, KUST. It will participate in the "Chinese Bridge", a group exchange project organized by the Confucius Institute of Souphanouvong University in Laos for a better understanding of China and deeper friendship.
CIJCETY is an international joint innovative platform supported by YSTD and jointly built by KUST and MEM. It aims to accelerate innovation cooperation in the integrated development of energy resources between China and Laos.
