Recently, representatives from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) and Pusan National University (PNU) in South Korea had a negotiation in Kunming and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Heads and teachers of the Division of International Cooperation, as well as the Faculty of Metallurgical and Energy Engineering at KUST, attended the signing ceremony.
The head of Division of International Cooperation of KUST had a talk with Professor Chunghwan Jeon, the president of PNU. Both of them introduced the basic information, disciplines and subjects, and scientific research of each university. They reached a consensus on jointly cultivating talent and conducting scientific research in fields like energy and manufacturing in the future, and signed a memorandum of understanding. The signing will serve as an academic bridge for teachers and students of both sides to exchange with each other. According to the MOU, the two sides will actively carry out exchanges between teachers and administrative personnel, and between students, joint research activities, and other academic exchanges agreed upon by both sides, so to promote the academic standards of both universities and the communication of cultural concepts between them. In addition, both universities will organize academic seminars, international conferences and other activities together to explore cutting-edge issues in education and promote its development.
The head of Division of International Cooperation of KUST stated at the signing ceremony that the cooperation was a crucial part for KUST to pursue its international development strategy and further promote its international perspective and academic influence. He expressed his hope that the cooperation could bring more prosperous education development in both China and South Korea and contribute to the education cooperation not only between the two countries but also all around the world.
The memorandum of cooperation will play a positive role in enhancing the academic potential, research levels, and discipline development of the two universities. Looking forward, the two sides will work together to conduct deep cooperation and extensive exchanges in joint academic research and specialist cultivation, specialists with international perspectives in particular.
