On July 1st, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the award ceremony of a short-video contest was held in Vientiane, Laos. The contest was themed “The Story of Chinese People's Struggle to Realize the Chinese Dream under the Leadership of the CPC”. It was sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Laos, organized by the China Cultural Center in Laos, and co-organized by the Confucius Institute at the National University of Laos, Lao Souphanouvong University Confucius Institute, and the Chinese Department of the National University of Laos. The contest attracted many Chinese-language enthusiasts from all walks of life in Laos, as well as Lao students studying in China.

Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, and Mr. Jiang Zaidong, Chinese Ambassador to Laos, presented the awards to the “Outstanding Prize” winners from KUST-Souphanouvong University Confucius Institute.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said that Confucius Institutes are committed to teaching the Chinese language and spreading Chinese culture, and have cultivated a number of aspiring young people who love China and Chinese culture in Laos. He said that on the occasion of greeting the convocation of the 20th CPC National Congress, this short-video contest played a positive role in promoting friendly exchanges between China and Laos, and building the Sino-Laos community with a shared future.

Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune congratulated the CPC on its 101st anniversary and expressed admiration for the CPC’s leadership in leading the Chinese people to realize the first centennial goal and forging ahead towards the second centennial goal. He stated that China and Laos have established a deep friendship, that Lao youth love China, and that they are keen on Chinese culture and Chinese-language learning. It is hoped that the friendship will last for generations.

The awards showcase the level of international, Chinese-language education and the influence of the international communication of Chinese culture at KUST-Souphanouvong University Confucius Institute. The Confucius Institute will continue to give full play to its advantages in promoting the development of various cooperative undertakings of KUST in Laos and make contributions to the building of the Sino-Laos community with a shared future.
