On June 28th, the School of International Education at KUST held a pre-trip training session for 2022 International Chinese Language Education volunteers. Fifteen undergraduate and master students from the Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) major attended the training.

The training mainly focused on the precautions for epidemic prevention and control before, during, and after the arrival of volunteers, the relevant legal knowledge of China and the host country, the rules and regulations of Chinese and foreign teaching institutions, the relevant regulations of schools, and the entry policy. At the same time, KUST expressed its heartfelt wishes for the volunteers to start a wonderful journey in life and wished them all the best and to stay safe.

These volunteers are fully funded by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC). They will go to the Chinese-language-education institutions in Britain, Thailand, and Cambodia from July to September 2022 to engage in Chinese teaching, aiming to build bridges of friendship between China and foreign countries, enhance understanding, promote people-to-people contact, and aid the common development of multiple civilizations in the world.

KUST attaches great importance to international-Chinese-language education. Up to now, thirty-two international-Chinese-language-education volunteers have been dispatched to provide excellent teachers for Confucius Institutes and overseas- Chinese-language-education institutions. The TCSOL major at KUST, with two hundred and eighty-three undergraduate and master students, including sixty-five international students, was selected as one of the top undergraduate majors in Yunnan Province in 2022.
