Since the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, KUST School of International Education（SIE）has organized dozens of professors and lecturers to jointly offer online professional course of “The International Promotion of Chinese Language” for postgraduates majoring in International Education of Chinese Language. The professors and lecturers made the instructions from their own research and experience of teaching Chinese to the speakers of other languages, covering the status quo of Chinese teaching in different countries and regions around the world.

15 professors and lecturers were invited to make the instruction, including Ms. XUN Jiayue, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute of Erlangen, Nuremberg, Germany, Dr. SUN Lin, the chief teacher for the Chinese Training Program of the Law Enforcement Liaison Officer for the Ministry of Public Security-Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Dr. MAO Rui, the leader for Polish major construction of Shanghai International Studies University, LI Shunqin, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute of Cleveland State University in the United States, and LI Bujun, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute of Souphanouvong University in Laos. The lectures covered the topics of “Status Quo of Chinese Language Teaching in Germany”, “Chinese Language Teaching for Special Purposes: Practice and Challenges”, “Status Quo of Chinese Teaching in Poland”, “Experience and Sharing of Chinese Teaching in the United States”, and “Status Quo of Chinese Teaching and Classroom Handling in Laos”. These online lectures broke the limits of space and the traditional classroom teaching model, allowing students to make academic communication and exchanges with these teachers of Chinese through the “cloud touch”, and to understand the current status of international Chinese teaching and the life of international Chinese teachers, which enhanced the students’ self-confidence in the Chinese culture and helped them establish goals and beliefs in devoting to the promotion of the Chinese culture.

KUST was accredited the Master’s Degree Authorization Station for International Education of Chinese Language in 2018, and ever since then, KUST has enrolled 13 Chinese postgraduate students and 19 international postgraduate students majoring in International Education of Chinese Language. The SIE has been committed to the integration and utilization of high-quality resources at home and abroad and the quality improvement of talent training by promoting the construction of disciplines and specialties.
