On June 18th,the2020 Yunnan High-quality Development Forum(Summer Seminar)was held in Kunming. The seminar, sponsored by Development Research Center ofthe People’s Government of Yunnan Province, was co-organized byIndustrial High-Tech Development InstituteofYunnanProvince(KUST), China (Yunnan) Open Economy Research Institute (Academy of Commerce of YunnanProvince) and Public Policy InstituteofYunnan Province(YunnanUniversity). More than 120 people attending theseminar werefrom provincial party and governmentdepartments, provincial enterprises and institutions,Yunnan Provincialnew think tanksof key cultivation and research entities jointly established withYunnan ProvincialDevelopmentResearchCenter.

At theconference, the participants analyzeda variety of impacts ofthe COVID-19epidemic on the economic and social developmentof Yunnan Province. To put forwardcountermeasuresforthe potential difficultiesand promote the high-quality development in Yunnan Province, this seminar focused on building advantageous industrial clusters, world-class health care resorts, a “Digital Yunnan”, promoting the innovation of governance modes in the information age, and enhancing the influence of Yunnan Province.
On January 20th, 2017, Industrial High-tech Development Research Institute of Yunnan Province was established inKUST, which is the first research base jointlybuilt bytheDevelopment Research Center of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and universities in YunnanProvince. TheInstitute provides decision-making consulting services forYunnan Provincial Government by analyzing the provincial national and global industrial situation; it established a think tank and information base for Yunnan’s industries, creating favorable conditions for a university think tank alliance in Yunnan Province; it plays the role in decision-making to carry out research on key industries and technologies in Yunnan,thus helping promote the development of Yunnan’s industry and high-tech.
