Recently, Prof.CHEN Zheng with KUST Faculty of Transportation Engineering has been elected to Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), which as the highest academic honor of IET, is awarded to outstanding talents who have exhibited high responsibility and made significant contributions in science and engineering technologies.
IET, the largest international professional society in Europe and the secondlargest in the world (after IEEE), was establishedat the beginning of 2006 by merging the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE). It involves more than 40 specialized areas belonging to 5 major industry categories, including energy and power, transportation, information and communication, design and manufacturing as well as architectural environment. IET has over 167,000 members from 150 countries. Authorized by the British Engineering Council, IET is qualified to award the international engineer qualification certificates recognized world-widely. Every year, IET usually elects around 300 new IET Fellows, including 30 to 40 fellows from China.
Prof. CHEN was born in Weifang, Shandong, and is a Ph.D. supervisor, senior member of IEEE, and Marie Curie induvial Fellow of European Union. He was elected to the Qinglan Talent Program of KUST and awarded as One Hundred Overseas High-level Talents in Yunnan Province (The sixth group). He serves as a committee memberofVehicle Control and Intelligence Society, Parallel Intelligence Society, and System Simulation Society of Chinese Association of Automation (CAA). He is also a committee member of Simulation Technology Application Society of China Simulation Federation (CSF) and an executive committee member of Integration Technology of Electric Vehicles and Energy Transportation Systems Chapter, Power and Energy Society (PES), IEEE. Prof. CHEN received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2004, 2007 and 2012, respectively. During 2008 to 2011, he was aresearch scholar at the University of Michigan, and then worked as a postdoctoral fellow from 2012 to 2014. He was awarded for the Marie Curie Individual Fellowship in 2019.
Till now, Prof. CHEN has secured over 30 projects, from Ministry of Science and Technology, China, National Natural Science Foundation, China, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China, Department of Science and Technology of Yunnan Province, and massive enterprises. He has authored more than 20 invention patents and published 2 monographs. He serves on the editorial board of IEEE Access and Journal of Chongqing University of Science and Technology.He is also an active committee member and session chair of several international conferences (IEEE,VPPC,ISEV and ITEC). He has wonthe Motor Challenge 2nd Place Award (2 times) from IEEE VTS, the outstanding reviewer award ofElsevier, Wu Daguan Best Teaching Award, Outstanding Technical Collaboration Award of Mamotor, etc.
