KUST Pakistani Students Invited to China-Pakistan Women's Forum

On May 25th, the China-Pakistan Women's Forum was held in Kunming. This event was hosted by the All-China Women Federation (ACWF) and the All-Pakistan Women Association (APWA), and it was co-organized by the Yunnan Provincial Women’s Federation and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in China. Three Pakistani international students of KUST were invited to the forum. Among them, HU Na, a doctoral student of the Faculty of Material Science and Engineering, delivered a speech as a representative of international students in China.

The forum, with the theme of "Promoting Women's Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Enhancing Friendship and Cooperation between China and Pakistan", was held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. XIA Jie (Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF), GAO Feng (Vice-Chairman of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference), and Moin ul Haque (Ambassador of Pakistan to China) attended and addressed the forum. Hidayatullah (President of the APWA) and Shireen Mazari (Pakistani Minister for Human Rights) delivered speeches online.

During the forum, representatives from relevant departments of the Chinese and Pakistani governments, associations, and organizations and those from cultural and educational fields exchanged ideas and shared experiences and achievements. They reached a consensus that women's causes are an important part of the China-Pakistan friendship. HU Na spoke on behalf of Pakistani students in China. She reviewed the long history of Sino-Pakistani friendship, thanked the Chinese government for giving her the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and to receive the education of international standard, and appreciated the Chinese people for their friendship and warmth that helped her get used to study and life in China. She also expressed her confidence in the future of Sino-Pakistani relations.
