On May 24th, around 50 Chinese and foreign students in the School of International Education at KUST conducted the activities to explore the charm of “international biological diversity”, including hiking with biodiversity-themed observation and visiting the ecological museum exhibition.
Chinese and foreign students learned the knowledge about biodiversity introduced by experts and had further contemplation about the concept of harmonious development between humanity and nature. They compared the differences between Kunming and their hometowns and learned how to use that knowledge to contribute to local environmental protection and sustainable development. After the activities, the students made presentations and communicated in groups in the form of videos or photos to discuss how to promote the Fifteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity Kunming (COP15) and how to sustainably use the natural resources around them.
In response to the coming COP15, KUST organized this outdoor activity to advocate the concept of ecological civilization and to popularize biodiversity knowledge, so as to enhance the awareness and participation of more Chinese and foreign students in COP15, to guide them to understand the importance of protecting biodiversity in outer suburbs, as well as to influence and drive more people around them to participate in environmental protection and biodiversity protection.
