On September2nd，Times Higher Education (THE) announced the THE World University Rankingsfor2022.KUSTis the only university of Yunnan Province on the list.
The Times Higher Education's World University Rankings, a global university performance benchmark,is based on 13 precisely standardized performance indicators thatcomprehensivelymeasure an institution’s performance across fourcoreareas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The rankings are recognized as one of the four most authoritative world university rankings, along with the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, the U.S. News & World Report(U.S. News) Best Global Universities Rankings, and the Shanghai Ranking's Academic Ranking of World Universities(ARWU).
This year, KUST’s entry into the rankings again fully proves that the university has made remarkable achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, disciplineconstruction, faculty composition,andinfrastructure construction.
In January 2015, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out inan important speech duringhis visit to Yunnan, "YunnanProvince is rich in scientific and educational resources,including nationally renowned universities like KUST, high-level research institutions like Kunming Branch Chinese Academy of Sciences, and many provincial research institutes. YunnanProvince should make good use of these resources andtake solid steps toblaze a new pathof innovation-driven development. There is a need to gather in innovative personnel that can be accomplished by the combination of cultivating existing talents and attracting outside talents. This can fill in the shortcomings of Yunnan innovative personnel.”The General Secretary’s speechnot only gave a high honor to all KUSTers, but alsoindicatedthe developmental direction forKUST.
It’shigh timefor KUSTto set sail towards the goal ofbeing a high-level research-intensive university with distinctive characteristics. Bearing in mind General Secretary Xi'sinstruction, all KUSTers will take the needs of the country and the call of the times as their mission, devoting themselves to industry and the economic and social development of the region, while making contributions to the practice ofinvigoratingYunnan andChina through science andtechnology.
