On September 10th, the program team of “Foreign Experts in Yunnan” of Yunnan Radio and Television Station visited KUST to film an interview with Zulqarnain (Chinese name: ZHU Kelun), a Pakistani expert of KUST.
During the interview, ZHU Kelun described Yunnan Province as his first stop in China, where he was very impressed by the hospitality, hard work and simplicity of thelocalpeople. During his studies in Yunnan, he met his current wifewho is a native of Huize County, Yunnan. Being married to a native of Yunnan, he feels very luckynowto be back working at his alma mater and living in Yunnan. He said:" I love China! I love Yunnan!"
In 2013, ZHU was awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship and pursued a Ph.D. in environmental biology at the Faculty of Life Science and Technology at KUST. In 2016, he was awarded the Cultural Exchange Messenger of KUST and the Outstanding International Graduate Student. He then went to South China Agricultural University(SCAU) as a postdoctoral fellow in the same year. In 2017, ZHUbecame a teacher at SCAU. In 2019, he workedat Northwest University for Nationalities where he was appointed as an associate professor.Since2020, ZHUhas been working at the Faculty of Life Science and Technology at KUST,focusing on molecular epidemiological research, and hehasalsobeen appointed as a professor.
The program “Foreign Experts in Yunnan”is produced by Yunnan Radio and Television Station.With the support of the Department of Science and Technology of Yunnan Province, it interviews influential foreign experts recruited to Yunnan province, presenting their contributions to Yunnan’s development whiledisplaying their deepconnections to Yunnan province and their friendships with Yunnan people.
