Recently, theopening ceremony ofaspecial practice activityof the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) was held in the 101 Lecture Hall of thelibrary on the Chenggong Campus. The theme was "Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth and Protecting Biodiversity in Yunnan Province". The ceremony was hosted by the Communist Youth League Committee of KUST and organized by the Communist Youth League Committee of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food.

This special practice activity was designed to enhance the awareness of biodiversity conservation, spread the concept of ecological civilization, implement General Secretary XI Jinping’s important thoughts on youth, and guide young students toacquire knowledge, get skills and make contributions insocial areas of life.

Associate Professor YI Junjie from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food gave professional guidance to the event. She suggested that microbial diversity is an important part of biodiversity and it is important toprotect Yunnan's microbial diversity. She also called on the students to explore Yunnan's microbial diversity and tell the stories ofYunnan.

At the ceremony, the head oftheCommunist Youth League Committee of KUST also presented the volunteers of the COP15 special practice activity witha flag.
