Recently, the results of 2021 FLTRP (Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press) Star Teacher Contest were announced. The KUST College English Teaching Team of Sun Hui, Chang Dandan, Yang Ling, Liu Chang and Ruan Shujun, and the English Major Teaching Team of Li Yun, Ma Qian, Yang Yu, Lin Jing and Du Mengmeng from Faculty of Foreign Languages and Cultures won second and third prizes respectively in the national finals. It was the first time that the teaching teams of both College English and English Majors had been selected for the national finals at the same time.
The Faculty of Foreign Languages and Cultures attached great importance to the competition of the two teams andorganized teaching andresearch activities to polishtheir teaching skills. The two teams made every effort to prepare for the competition, bearing in mind the glorious mission ofcultivating talents for the country. They resolutely implemented the fundamental task of using the teaching design to establish moral education,while utilizing a continuously innovative teaching plan. After several months of preparation, their hard workpaid off as the College English and English Major Teams eachmadeit tothe finals out of 395 and 272 teams nationwide.
Founded in 2013, the Star Teacher Contest, one of the recognized high-level teaching competitions, has been included in the National Teaching Competition Status Statistics Project of the China Association of Higher Education. The competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education’s Steering Committee for Foreign Languages and Literature Teaching, and forCollegeEnglishTeaching, as well as FLTRP. The theme of the competition was "Effective Use of Foreign Language Teaching Materials: Cultivating Souls, Enlightening Wisdom." This theme sought to enlighten teachers to better understand the concept of teaching materials, deepen the meaning of their teaching materials, innovate their teaching design, and implement the mission of cultivating students.
