On the afternoon of April 6th, Vice President YI Jianhong held a symposium with the foreign teachers working at KUST at a meeting room on the 10th floor of the Administration Building of the Chenggong Campus. Relevant leaders from the Division of International Cooperation and the Faculty of Foreign Language and Culture also attended the symposium.
Yi Jianhong expressed his gratitude to the foreign teachers and asked about their teaching at KUST and their lives in Kunming.
During the symposium, Yi Jianhong introduced the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in China and the world, and then explained the policy of putting the people’s lives first as well as the dynamic zero-COVID approach adopted by the Chinese government. He also talked about the pandemic prevention and control measures at KUST and thanked the foreign teachers for their efforts to abide by the anti-pandemic regulations of KUST and the local communities. In turn, the foreign teachers showed their understanding of the prevention measures and their willingness to abide by them. They also expressed their gratitude for the care they have received and gave valuable suggestions regarding in class teaching and the internationalization of education at KUST based on their practical work experience.
Yi Jianhong stressed that the teaching by foreign teachers is an essential part in guaranteeing students’ continuous English learning while at KUST. He requested that the Division of International Cooperation and the Faculty of Foreign Language and Culture do a better job of managing the work of foreign teachers by providing care and help to them through communicating with them on a regular basis.
