On the afternoon of December 29th, Vice President of KUST YI Jianhong, KUST leader TAO Guangrong, and the relevant heads of the School of International Education and the Division of International Cooperation visited Yunnan International Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Center and signed a cooperation agreement on international talent training.

YI Jianhong pointed out thatfostering virtue through education is thefoundationof education and that universities are the main field of talent training. Cultivating innovative talent is crucial for the nation’s long-term development and is a major strategy to transform China from a big country into a powerful one. International exchange and cooperation as well as international student training are the priorities for the internationalization of higher education in China and are important ways for universities to promotethe“DoubleFirst-Class”university project. TAO Guangrong introduced the basic situation of the university, its promotion of international construction, and the training of high-level technical and management personnel with domestic and foreign institutions and enterprises. He emphasized that the internationalization of education is an important yardstick for a modern university, and a significant development strategy of the university. The Lancang-Mekong Sub-region countries around Yunnan have a relatively weak industrial foundation and a massive demand for industrial development. The disciplines of KUST are highly in line with their development requirements.

WU Hongfei, Secretary General of Yunnan International Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Center, introduced the founding mission and main business of the center andGuohe International Business (Yunnan) Co., LTD., as well as the favorable foundation of tripartite cooperation.Through the tripartite cooperation, he hopes to cultivate a number of local talents with high professional skills who are familiar with the management style of Chinese-funded enterprises andalso identify with Chinese culture.

In the tripartite cooperation, KUST will make full use of its discipline advantages and talent advantages, and carry out the training of engineering technology and management talents in various forms to meet the requirements of South and Southeast Asian countries. KUST will play an active role in serving the “the Belt and Road” initiative and making Yunnan a central pivot of China's opening-up to South Asia and Southeast Asia. Yunnan International Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Center can provide high-quality international resources. Guohe International Business (Yunnan) Co., Ltd. has a rich experience in implementinginternational projects. The three parties will enhance the professional skills of the local employees of overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, while serving and improving the local people's livelihood. They will also consolidate the humanistic and social foundations of the "going global" of Chinese-funded enterprises through the "language and skills" training in China and the job posts provided by overseas Chinese-funded enterprises. This will serve to make the local employees of Chinese-funded enterprises really "get close to the people and communicate with the enterprises" while effectively helping Chinese-funded enterprises "go global".

At the meeting, YI Jianhong, on behalf of KUST, signed a tripartite cooperation agreement on international talent training with Yunnan International Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation Center and Guohe International Business (Yunnan) Co., Ltd.
