From February 18 to 19, Tang Jiahua, the Chairman of University Council, led a delegation to attend the 4th Thai-Yunnan Educational Cooperation Forum held at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. This year's forum coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, celebrating the "Golden 50 Years of China-Thailand Friendship." Themed "The Path Forward: Shaping the Future of Thai-Yunnan Education," the forum was jointly organized by the Thailand Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Royal Thai Embassy in China, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, and Mae Fah Luang University. More than 170 heads and experts from 32 universities in Yunnan and Thailand, along with educational administrators from both countries, participated in the forum.

Entrusted by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, Tang Jiahua, the head of the Yunnan Higher Education Delegation and the Chairman of University Council, KUST, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 4th Thai-Yunnan Educational Cooperation Forum. In his address, he outlined the development of higher education in Yunnan and the educational exchanges and cooperation between Yunnan and Thailand. He proposed initiatives to leverage platform capabilities, deepen talent cultivation, and strengthen scientific research collaboration. The forum consisted of the Thai-Yunnan Education Cooperation Meeting, Presidents' Roundtable, and five sub-forums on green development, medicine and health, science and technology with agriculture, and language and culture. Kunming University of Science and Technology hosted the Presidents' Roundtable and participated in the sub-forums on science and technology with agriculture, and language and culture. During the Presidents' Roundtable, Tang Jiahua, the co-chair from the Chinese side, summarized the achievements of the university's international exchanges and cooperation, emphasizing the advancement of joint research with Thai universities in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, batteries, and renewable energy. He also highlighted the collaborative establishment of the Sino-Thai Institute of Engineering and Technology with Thai universities to jointly cultivate applied engineering talents, enrich the joint training models, deepen educational cooperation, and provide intellectual support for enhancing the connectivity of supply chains between China and Thailand.

Tang Jiahua Delivers a Speech at the Forum
During the forum, the delegation from Kunming University of Science and Technology participated in the Yunnan Higher Education Exhibition organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, where they promoted the "Study at KUST" initiative and provided enrollment consultation for the school. The delegation also visited several Thai universities including the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Kasetsart University, and Mae Fah Luang University. Meetings were held with the International Affairs Division of the Thailand Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), and Mae Fah Luang University. These discussions led to an agreement to jointly establish a Technology Transfer Center and collaborate on research and technology transfer in transportation, logistics, and clean energy vehicle technologies.
