President Schattauer of Technische Universität Clausthal Visits KUST

On September 18th, a delegation from Technische Universität Clausthal in Germany led by Sylvia Schattauer, the President of TU Clausthal, visited Kunming University of Science and Technology. Wang Hua, the President of KUST, held a meeting with President Sylvia Schattauer at the conference room of the administration building, Chenggong Campus. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on comprehensively deepening cooperation and renewing the “1+2” joint master’s degree program agreement. The meeting was hosted by Vice President Yi Jianhong.



Wang Hua, on behalf of KUST, expressed a warm welcome to President Sylvia Schattauer and the delegation, introduced the recent development and achievements of the university and reviewed the cooperation process between KUST and TU Clausthal. He pointed out that the two sides have carried out scientific research cooperation in multiple fields such as minerals and energy and have achieved fruitful results over the past 26 years, and have explored new forms of cooperation in talent cultivation and faculty training in recent years. He hoped that the two universities would further strengthen exchanges and interactions among faculties and students, explore more exchange programs, as well as continue to expand academic cooperation in carbon neutral technology and other areas to make positive contributions to addressing global environmental issues.


President Sylvia Schattauer expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of KUST and introduced the basic situation of TU Clausthal. She stated that KUST is a renowned university in China, and TU Clausthal is willing to work hand in hand with KUST to jointly promote the vigorous and high-quality development of education and scientific research.


During the meeting, both sides primarily centered on discussing the renewal of the “1+2” joint master’s degree program agreement and reached multiple consensuses regarding future cooperation. The two universities signed the agreement in 2017, during which a total of 9 students went to TU Clausthal to pursue a master’s degree. In the future, both sides will perpetuate this cooperation and jointly cultivate high-caliber talents, providing more high-quality platforms to enhance students’ international perspectives.



During the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics and the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of KUST, gaining a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of talent cultivation, technological innovation, and teaching facilities construction of KUST.
