KUST’s Chinese and International Student Representatives Participate in the “5th Yunnan Province International Students Cultural Exchange Week”

To strengthen the mutual learning and communication between Chinese and international students in Yunnan, the “5th Yunnan Province International Students Cultural Exchange Week” was held in Yuxi and Kunming from December 4th to 9th. The event was jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the Yunnan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (YNPAFFC). Those participating in the activities were international students from 19 countries studying at five universities, including Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), Yunnan University, Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine, Dali University, and Yuxi Normal University.



The theme of this activity is “Youth Knows No Borders, Moving Forward to the Future.” The Chinese and international students visited several places, including the Happiness Town in Daying Street, Yuxi City, Hongta Group, the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Kite Museum in Mafang Village, Chengjiang Fossil Site Museum, Wenheng Beidou Science and Technology, Dounan Flower Market, Yunnan Military Academy, and Yunnan Uprising Memorial Hall, etc. They also watched the performance“Impression of Yunnan”and experienced Traditional Chinese medicine. During the activity, the students gained first-hand experience of the path, system, science, and culture with Chinese characteristics. They witnessed the development and changes in rural areas since the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy. They saw China’s contributions and achievements towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.


At the opening ceremony, two students from KUST gave the speeches. One was Hassan, a Bangladeshi student, and the other was Liu Yu, a Chinese student. They delivered speeches entitled “China-Bangladesh, Growing Together!” and “A Shared Beauty, a Harmonious World,” expressing their salutary vision of the younger generation for building a community with a shared future for mankind and promoting world peace and development. At the closing ceremony, Hollina, a Spanish student, played guitar and sang “Train to Winter,” eliciting enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience. Yang Xiaolin, a Thai student, said that this Cultural Exchange Week deepened her understanding of Yunnan and China. She felt the Chinese spirit, understood the Chinese road, and her love for China grew even stronger.
