On September 26th, the six-member delegation from Kuzbass State Technical University (KuzSTU), Russia led by Alexei Yakovlev, Rector of KuzSTU, visited KUST. Wang Hua, President of KUST, met with Rector Yakovlev. Yi Jianhong, Vice President of KUST, and heads of relevant departments and schools attended the symposium.
On behalf of KUST, Yi warmly welcomed Rector Yakovlev and his delegation and introduced the history, accomplishments and development goals of KUST. Yakovlev introduced the current social and economic development of Kuzbass, as well as the history and research strength of KuzSTU. Yi stressed that KUST attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and looks forward to remarkable achievements through the cooperation with KuzSTU. Yakovlev hoped that both sides would remain committed to in-depth and friendly educational exchanges and cooperation.
The two sides discussed several issues at the symposium, including the establishment of the Joint Research Institute of Metallurgy and Low Carbon Energy, short-term exchange visits between teachers and students of the two universities, and joint training programmes for master’ s students.
Yi and Yakovlev also attended the awarding ceremony for the "Yunnan International Joint Laboratory of Photoelectric Materials and Devices", which was jointly established by KUST, KuzSTU and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), as well as the "Yunnan Tatiana G. Cherkasova Academician Workstation".
