On December 10th, the 2022 International Conference on Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application in Metallurgy and Energy was hosted online by the National Centre for Schooling Development Programme of the Ministry of Education, and organized jointly by the Education Department of Yunnan Province and Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST).
On behalf of KUST, Yi Jianhong, vice president of KUST, delivered a speech. He hoped that this symposium could present an opportunity for all parties to give full play to their advantages and further deepen practical cooperation to build the road of friendship and cooperation alliance in the new era with all countries.
In his speech, Phouvieng, president of the Institute of Energy and Mines Research of Laos, expressed his sincere gratitude to KUST for its long-term support for the renewable energy industry of Laos. He hoped that KUST and the institute could keep writing a new chapter of international cooperation and friendship.
The conference featured three parallel sessions, including International Cooperation in Metallurgy, International Cooperation in Energy, and Academic Exchange among Graduate Students. More than 350 representatives from governmental departments and famous universities of the United States, Germany, Canada, Japan, Thailand, Laos and other countries, as well as Chinese universities, research institutes and multinational enterprises attended the sessions. Among them, 47 made presentations. Graduate student representatives from Kyushu University in Japan, IImenau University of Technology in Germany and KUST participated in the academic exchange session online.
Dr. Simone Phichit, senior adviser to the Department of Geology and Minerals, Ministry of Energy and Mines of Laos, outlined the Ten-Year (2021-2030) Mineral Development Strategy and Future Targets for 2035. Professor Ruan Rongsheng from the University of Minnesota made a presentation themed "Catalytic Microwave-assisted Pyrolysis and Gasification of Solid Wastes for Chemicals, Materials, and Hydrogen Production". Professor Ma Wenhui, president of Pu'er University, delivered a presentation entitled "Development Trend of Photovoltaic Silicon and Silicon-based Anode Materials". Su Zhaohui, special adviser on Chinese affairs to the CEO of Glencore Group, introduced the "Supply and Demand of the Energy and Metal Industry in China and Its Future Development". Professor Xu Baoqiang from KUST shared "New Progress Made in Vacuum Metallurgy of Non-ferrous Metals". Professor Lu Xuewei from Chongqing University explained the "Low-carbon Iron Technology and Research Advances in New Technology". Zou Tao, general manager of Canaccord Genuity Asia (Beijing) Limited, shared the "Development Strategy of Overseas Mineral Resources under the New International Situation". Professor XU Chao from North China Electric Power University introduced "Research on Devices and Systems of PV-CSP". Professor GONG Liang from China University of Petroleum (East China) explained "Thermal Management Technology of Microchannels and Multi-field Coupling in 3D-ICs ".
Following the 2021 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application in Metallurgy and Energy, this symposium is another one adhering to the concept of “focusing on the green and high-quality development of the metallurgy and energy industry to forge stronger international cooperation on industry, education, research, and application".
