On the morning of 28th September, 2022, the first “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Cooperation Forum” opened. Yi Jianhong, Vice President of KUST, attended the opening ceremony of the forum online and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Yi Jianhong gave an overview of KUST, its achievements in the construction of the Confucius Institute, the training of foreign students, and the cooperation and exchange with overseas universities in recent years. He hoped that the Lancang-Mekong cooperative mechanism would continue to be promoted, the construction of the “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Community” would continue to be strengthened, and more in-depth cooperation would be carried out in areas such as cooperation in advantageous disciplines, mutual visits by teachers, joint scientific research, student exchanges, and the joint construction of language-and-culture learning platforms.

The first “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Cooperation Forum” is sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, and hosted by the Yunnan Normal University, including the “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Principals Forum” and the “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Experts Forum”. KUST will participate in the two forums and make speeches.

It is reported that KUST, as the initiator, has jointly established the “Lancang-Mekong Chinese Education Community” with many universities from Yunnan province, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
