On April 10, the national video conference on the construction of international online-teaching platform courses of Chinese universities was held in Beijing. It is reported by the conference that the Ministry of Education of PRC (MOE) will start the construction of English version of international platform for online teaching among the universities in China. Relevant universities will organize and recommend a number of high-quality English courses to be launched online foruniversity students from all over the world. “iCourse” and “XuetangX” have been listed in the first batch of the selected platforms. As one of the first batch of 59 universities in China, KUST has been approved to provide high-quality English courses.

Being always attaching great importance to the construction and internationalization of MOOCs, KUST has actively recommended high-level MOOCs representing the characteristics of KUST for worldwide online teaching.. At present, one of KUST’s MOOCs is launched on the FUN-MOOC, on which this MOOC is the third course in Chinese Mainland while it is also the first course in Yunnan Province launched on an international platform. Besides, 8 MOOCs will be launched on the International Engineering Education platform of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Science and Technology (IKCEST) under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), providing high-quality courses to the world with "Chinese Characteristics and World Class".

At the video conference, Wu Yan, Director of the Higher Education Department of the MOE, delivered a keynote lecture entitled "Responding to Crisis, Turning Crisis into Opportunity, and Changing Actively for Building an International Platform for Online Teaching and Curriculum Resources". He reviewed the situations of online teaching throughout China during the epidemic, and put forward "Chinese Experience of Responding to the Crisis, Chinese Programs of Turning Crises into Opportunities, and Changing Actively to Make Chinese Contributions." At the conference, he also introduced the situations of KUST exporting MOOCs to overseas teaching platforms.

At present, the epidemic of COVID-19 is spreading all over the world. As a result, the education of hundreds of millions of college students worldwide has been affected by the postponement of classes and schools, and the normal teaching order of universities around the world has been seriously affected. In order to actively make contributions to fighting against the epidemic in universities around the world in terms of Chinese higher education, the MOE launched the construction program of an English version of international platform for online teaching among the colleges and universities in China, which brings the best colleges and universities, the best teachers and the best courses to provide online education for the global college and university students, passing the love of warm, power and mutual help on to the world with education and teaching.
