Commencement for Class of 2021

KUST held the 2021 Graduation Commencement Ceremony on the morning of June 23. The ceremony held both online and offline presentations. More than 1,200 representatives of the Class of 2021 attended the Graduation Ceremony in the main venue of the Gymnasium of the Chenggong Campus. Other graduates who could not be present gathered through the online live broadcast. They will start a new journey with KUST’s blessing.

KUST leaders ZHANG Yingjie, WANG Hua, LI Li, YI Jianhong, TAO Guangrong, ZHOU Fengyue, SHU Hongchun, YANG Bin, MA Wenhui, and JIANG Lihong, President of the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province and the Affiliated Hospital of KUST, attended the ceremony. Heads of functional departments and Faculties, counseling teachers, class teachers and teacher representatives also participated in the ceremony. Vice President SHU Hongchun hosted the ceremony.

The 2021 Graduates Commencement Ceremony

YI Jianhong, Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of KUST, declared the degree-conferring decision. This year, the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of KUST awarded a total of 7,307 undergraduates with a bachelor’s degree, 68 PhD students with a doctor’s degree, and 2,904 postgraduates with a master’s degree.

567 outstanding graduates of the class of 2021 were also commended.

189 graduates were appointed as the 2021 alumni liaisons.

Address and Charge from the President

"As you are about to leave KUST with lofty ideals, I encourage you with four keywords: responsibility, accountability, diligence, and dedication. I hope everyone will overcome obstacles and move forward courageously, with KUST’s motto of knowing the morals, taking responsibility," President WANG Hua remarked.

First, never forget your original aspiration and uphold your national responsibility. In the future, the country will expect you to take the initiative to shoulder national responsibilities, integrating your ideals into national undertakings. Never give up! Maintain the rock-like spirit of fighting against obstacles. Maintain the courage and perseverance of fearlessness and move forward in difficulties and dangers. Maintain the fighting spirit of sacrificing yourself and daring to be the first in the world.

Second, work hard to fulfil our mission. I hope that you can inherit and develop the fine tradition of KUSTers who are not afraid of hardship and fatigue, bravely undertaking missions and sincerely serving the country with hard work. With creative innovation, a pioneering spirit and vigorous vitality, you can break through and develop your career. Strive to become a pillar of the great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

Third, work steadfastly with a studious heart and be diligent in action. In the coming days, please keep in mind surviving in disasters, perishing in comfort. Avoid arrogance and impatience in practice. Learn to apply theory to practice. When you work with enthusiasm, conscientiousness, and diligence, you will finally succeed. Through hard work, you will realize the value of life and achieve a better life.

Fourth, pursue excellence and adhere to innovation. I hope you can follow the example of the many outstanding teachers and alumni represented by Academician DAI Yongnian, linking your individual destiny with that of your nation. Keep pace with the times and turn your patriotism and devotion to the country. Commit yourself to the theoretical innovation, technological innovation, cultural innovation and national prosperity and rejuvenation as KUSTers!

Professor NA Jing from the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, served as the representative of the teachers, putting forward this sincere hope to the graduates.
