On May 6th, XIE Nan (Deputy Dean of Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (CDHAW) and Institute of Vocational Education of Tongji University), Oliver Schirmer (Deputy Dean of CDHAW), and two others visited City College of KUST. MA Wenhui (Vice President of KUST) and WU Tao (Vice President ofKUST) attended the symposium. The heads from the Division of Overseas Cooperation of KUST and City College participated in the symposium.

At the meeting, MA Wenhui said that to implement the strategy of rural vitalization, under the strategic cooperation framework of Shanghai's counterpart assistance to Yunnan and the strategic cooperation between Tongji University and People's Government of Yunnan Province, KUST had proposed the "1234 Special Project" plan for Yunnan-Shanghai Cooperation in higher vocational education during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. In order to comprehensively improve the quality and benefits of application-oriented personnel training at all levels in Yunnan Province, improve teachers’ qualification, and achieve the demonstration results of vocational education reform, suggestions were put forward from the following aspects: the establishment of cooperation between colleges in vocational education, the localization of German vocational education elements, the construction of the Yunnan beautiful rural demonstration base, the improvement of Yunnan teachers' qualifications in vocational education, and the implementation plan of Yunnan vocational education combined with Sino-German education. He hoped that KUST and Tongji University would jointly promote the implementation of the project in the next five years.

XIE Nan introduced personnel training methods as well as managementstrategieson the Sino-Foreign cooperation project of CDHAW. Oliver Schirmer gave a detailed introduction to the current status of engineering education in Germany.

The two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the current undergraduate vocational education and teacher training needs in Yunnan Province and the cooperation mode between City College of KUST and CDHAW of Tongji University.
