On the 20th April, to respond to the call ofthe organization“ChinesePlus”, the School of International Education of KUST held the 1st World Chinese Language Day Forum. Taking the World Chinese Language Day as an opportunity, this forum was organized based on the theme of the Biodiversity Conference— “Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth”. Through cultural lectures, this forumaims to promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, to make positive contributions to promoting the development of diversified languages and cultures in the world, and to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind. The forum attracted more than 160 Chinese and foreign teachers and students.

The forum was divided into three parts. First, the forum started off by heated discussions about the connotations and practical significance of the “World Chinese Language Day” and the “Biodiversity Conference”. Second, Peng Jianling (Professor of the School of International Education) and Zhu Yongqiang(Doctor of Kunming Medical University) were invited to deliver lectures on “Chinese Teaching in Denmark” and the “Intra-ethnic and interethnic Spreading and Communication of Naxi Culture” respectively. In the third part, students from the Confucius Institute in Souphanouvong University in Laos expressed their understanding of the Chinese language and enthusiasm towards China, and they also look forward to theupcoming “World Chinese Language Day” and the “2021 UN Biodiversity Conference”.

In the end, all the staff and students swore to volunteer to become the "Cultural Communication Messenger of Biodiversity Conference". Then they wrote down the wishes and stuck their wishes on the Message Board.
