With the active organization and application of the School of International Education of KUST, the Laos Chinese Language Education and Research Center (LCLERC), jointly established by KUST and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), was recently founded at KUST. At the same time, two national Chinese education funding projects and one international Chinese education innovation funding project at KUST were approved, including The Practice and Promotion of “International Chinese + Technology” in the Context of the Opening of the China-Laos Railway.
The LCLERC closely focuses on the national strategies and geographical advantages of Yunnan Province, relying on the platform of the Confucius Institute jointly established with Souphanouvong University in Laos. Additionally, the LCLERC takes the opening of the “China-Laos Railway” as an opportunity to further enhance the impact of Chinese language and culture in Laos, precisely matching and serving the needs of Chinese language teaching in Laos, while strengthening the country study of Laos.
The LCLERC will investigate and study the basic situation of Chinese education in Laos, putting forward opinions and suggestions to support Chinese education in Laos. Additionally, the LCLERC will carry out distinctive Chinese education programs and cultivate international high-quality talents to meet the needs of social and economic development in areas such as the “China-Laos Railway” program. This will help to improve KUST's research and construction level in the country and region.
