On January 7, the 1st Session of the 1st Online Meeting of the Council of Confucius Classrooms was jointly held online by KUST and NEXT EDUCATION GROUP in Ballerup, Denmark (NEGBD). YI Jianhong, vice president of KUST and the Chinese Director of the Council, Rasmus Frimodt, president of NEGBD and the Danish Director of the Council, as well as Martin Kramer-Jorgensen, vice president of NEGBD attended the meeting. Council members of both parties, Kunming Science and Technology Education Development Group, heads of the School of International Education, and the relevant heads of NEXT Education Groupwere present at the meeting.

On behalf of KUST, YI Jianhong expressed his gratitude to the heads of NEXT EDUCATION GROUP, members of the Council, as well as staff from both sides for their contribution to the development of the Confucius Classroom. Heintroduced that the Confucius Classroom co-established by KUST and NEGBD is the only Confucius Classroom currently opened in Europe by Yunnan Province. It is also an important platform for educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Denmark.

Rasmus Frimodt said that the establishment of the Confucius Classroom offers people in Ballerup great service to learn the Chinese language and culture, significantly boosting the exchanges and cooperation in language, culture, education, and research between the two universities, even between China andDenmark. He hoped that this platform can present an opportunity for more Danish students to study in China and that more cooperation can be explored on artificial intelligence, as well as online and offline communication among students.

At the meeting, the decision to add new members to the Council was passed. In addition,the 2021 Work Report of the Confucius Classroom and the Final Account of Start-up Funds, and the 2022 Work Plan and Budget of the Confucius Classroom were reviewed and approved. Members of the Council fullyaffirmed the work oftheConfucius Classroom in 2021. It has finished the expected teaching work, built up an affiliated classroom and a Chinese teaching center, which lays a great foundation for the further development of Confucius Classrooms, especially in the context of the normalization of the epidemic.

This meeting set a clear direction and a blueprint for the development of the Confucius Classroom. Both sides hope to promote the development of Chinese education in Denmark through joint efforts, further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in a wider range of fields, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Danish and Chinese people.
