On the afternoon of December 18th, the 2021 Twelfth Dayi Wutong Tea Party was held at the Kunming Holiday Inn. The School ofInternational Education ofKUST organized the partyandmore than ten international students from Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Pakistanwere invited toparticipate.
Other attendees included Fayisa, Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming, Manila Song Bundhit, Consul General of Lao People's Democratic Republic in Kunming, Dodaang, Consul General of Myanmar Union Republic in Kunming, Ma Yong, Director of the Southeast Asian Institute of South Asia and Southeast Asia Institute of China (Kunming), Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, and relevant directors of Dayi Charitable Foundation. In addition, more than 50 representatives of international students fromsomeuniversities in Kunming attended the activity.
The tea party was themed with "China-Laos Railway and the Belt and Road Initiative". Ma Yong gave a keynote speech at the meeting, saying that China and Laos share honor and disgrace. Under the consensus of the community of shared future for mankind, the operationof the China-Laos railway will bring greater opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. Ma analyzed the future cooperation and exchanges among China and South Asia and Southeast Asia from the perspective of connectivity in policy, infrastructure, trade, finance, and people-to-people exchange.
During the free discussion, Hassan, a KUST international student, shared that the investment of Chinese enterprises in Bangladeshhas boosted the local economy, andhoped for better development of China and South Asian countries in the future.
International students learned about Chinese traditional tea art and culture at the tea party by watching the presentations and practical operations.
