On June 23, a delegation of seven members from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand, visited Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST). The delegation was led by Vice President Chawin Chantharasenawong and included Dean Varit Srilaong of the School of Bioresources and Technology. They were greeted by heads of relevant Faculties and departments of KUST, and both sides held a meeting.
During the meeting, both sides introduced their universities’ basic information, disciplinary strengths, and international cooperation initiatives. They decided to focus on fields including bioresource development, construction engineering, and information technology, prioritizing the expansion of student/faculty exchange programs and joint cultivation programs. They also agreed to encourage joint research and co-publication of academic achievements between professors from both institutions to achieve complementary advantages.
The meeting was attended by responsible representatives from KUST’s Division of International Cooperation, Faculty of Life Science and Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Transportation Engineering, School of International Education, and University Science Park Co., Ltd.
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) is a key public university directly under Thailand’s Ministry of Education. Established in 1957 with its main campus in Bangkok, it is renowned for strengths in science and engineering. Recognized by China’s Ministry of Education, the university comprises faculties such as Education, Engineering, and Science, offering 96 undergraduate programs, 59 master’s programs, and 29 doctoral programs. Its chemical engineering and mechanical engineering programs enjoy international recognition, and it was ranked among the Top 400 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for three consecutive years (2012–2014) – the only Thai university to achieve this distinction during that period.
