On April 30, KUST carried out an emergency response drill on Chenggong Campus for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 for the opening of 2020 spring semester to improve the University’s emergency response ability. The drill is to implement the requirements of the teleconference held by Yunnan Provincial Education Department about the opening of 2020 spring semester of the colleges and universities and the COVID-19 prevention and control. LI Li, Vice Chair of the University Council and Deputy Head of KUST Leading Group for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, SHU Hongchun, Vice President, XIA Xueshan, Vice President and Deputy Head of KUST Leading Group for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the heads and teachers of all faculties and departments participated in the drill.
Vice President XIA Xueshan delivered a speech mobilizing the participation of the teachers in the emergency response drill. He hoped that everyone would work at full stretch to carry out the drill, so as to ensure a safe, stable and orderly opening for the 2020 spring semester and ensure the life safety and health of teachers and students on campus.
Four emergency scenes were simulated in the drill, namely, the treatment of students with fever at the school gate when registering for returning the school, in the dormitories, in the classrooms and at the canteens. Some teachers acted as returning students and conducted drills in a real scene mode.
During the drill when the students with abnormal body temperature was checked out, security personnel, dormitory administrators, teachers, counselors, staff of KUST hospital, staff of prevention and control office, and other relevant personnel acted quickly and completed the comprehensive procedures of student’s isolation, investigation of close contacts, environmental disinfection, case information reporting, and initiation of contingency plans and other emergency disposals. At the canteen, all the drilling teachers in line kept a distance of 1.5 meters between each other, and returned to the dormitory to eat after getting the meals. In addition to checking the correct wearing of masks and measuring body temperature, scenarios such as the students’ not bringing meal cards with them and maintaining order were also simulated.
All departments at the drill site carried out their respective duties successfully. They have accurately and efficiently completed all the scheduled drill tasks, accumulating experience in the epidemic prevention and control for the students’ safe returning.
