During the combat against the COVID-19, KUST Division of Overseas Cooperation has been making an all-out effort to implement the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic for international teachers and international postdoctoral students, taking consideration of information sharing and their actual needs.
When the COVID-19 epidemic broke out, the Division of Overseas Cooperation contacted the international teachers of KUST as soon as possible and gathered the information concerning their health conditions, addresses, and other things. The Division paid special attention to international teachers staying in Kunming and other provinces of China during the winter vacation, asking if they had difficulties and questions during the period of epidemic containment. It also timely repostedA Letter from Science and Technology Department of Yunnan Province toForeign Experts Working in Yunnan,A Letter to Foreign Nationals in Yunnan from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province,A Public Letter for Foreign Residents in Kunming from Kunming Police, andQuestions and Answers by National Immigration Administration Concerning Immigration and Exit-Entry Administration during Prevention and Control of COVID-19.Division of Overseas Cooperation strictly implements the “daily report” system, requiring the faculties (departments) in which the foreign teachers work with to appoint responsible persons to contact international teachers every day, timely obtaining their information required for the prevention and control of the epidemic such as health conditions, addresses and travelling route and living conditions, and reporting these information to the Division. Then, it shall summarize information and report it to Science and Technology Department of Yunnan province, Yunnan Education Department, and Office of the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 of KUST. The Division also timely released the epidemic news, government measures, school notices and regulations in both Chinese and English via “Foreign Teacher WeChat Groups”; it also forwardedYunnan Epidemic Situation released by “Yunnan Foreign Affairs” every day, and reposting China Daily’s English reports on epidemic precautions and the World Health Organization’s assessment of the epidemic in real time to ensure that every international teacher would get to know the epidemic situation in time, and avoid panics caused by asymmetric information.

On the evening of March 26th, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Immigration Administration of the People’s?Republic of China issued theAnnouncement on the Temporary Suspension?of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese?Visas or Residence Permits. On the 27th, The Division of Overseas Cooperation wroteA Letter to Each International Teachers and Postdoctoral Students at KUST, informing them of the relevant regulations of the Chinese government and KUST, and expressing KUST’s concern to them. The international teachers, when receiving the letter, all said that they can feel the kindness and love of KUST, and they were willing to cooperate with and participate in KUST’s prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic. They also expressed their understanding and appreciation of the prevention and control measures adopted in China to combat the COVID-19 epidemic.
