On June 16th, the appointmentceremony toinaugurate for Prof. HU Xiaosong asHonoraryDean anda visitingprofessor oftheFaculty of Agriculture and Food was held on Chenggong campus of KUST. President WANG Xueqin, Vice President YANG Bin and Vice President XIA Xueshan attended the ceremony, together with more than 100 teachers and students including heads of the President’s Office, Development Planning Department, Personnel Department, Educational Administration Department, Academy of Sciences, Asset and Laboratory Management Department and Faculty of Agriculture and Food.

President WANG Xueqincongratulated ProfessorHU Xiaosong on hisbeingappointed asHonoraryDean anda visitingprofessor of theFaculty of Agriculture and Food. HerequiredtheFaculty of Agriculture and Foodto provide positive support forProf.HU Xiaosong’sresearch work, combining the requirements of the national agriculture modernization andthe development of green industries ofYunnan Province, targeting localcharacteristic development and promoting the overall development of theFaculty of Agriculture and Food.
Prof. HU Xiaosong expressed his sincere gratitude for his being appointed as HonoraryDean, and said that itwas a great honorfor him to participate in the development ofKUST.He and his teamwill workjointly with allthe othercolleaguesandmake contributions to the future development of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food.

Prof. HU Xiaosong isnow a professor andadoctoral supervisor ofCollegeof Food Science and Nutritional Engineering,China Agricultural University, andhe is also Vice Chairman of theChinese Institute of Food Science and Technology,amember of theState Food andConsultant Committee, a member of the Science and TechnologyCommission of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education, and Director of National Engineering Research Center forFruit andVegetableProcessing. He has been engaged in the research of fruit and vegetable storage and processing theory and technology, development of ultra-high pressure food processing technology and equipment, food safety science and quality control,as well asagriculture and food industry development strategy.
