On August 5th, President Wang Hua, Vice President Yang Bin, and other KUST leaderspaid a visitto Yunnan Tin Group (YTG) toconduct industry-university-research cooperation and exchanges. Representatives from YTG, including Deputy Chairman & General Manager Cheng Ruihan, Deputy General Manager Song Xingcheng, Director of Organization and Personnel Department Wu Jun and General Manager of Science and Technology Information Center Peng Jubo, attended the panel discussions.
Wang Huasaid that KUST has been appreciating YTG’s support and assistance in scientific research and talent cultivation. In the process, KUST and YTG have built a solid foundation of cooperation.A large number of teachers and students from KUSThave the chance to carry out relevant cooperation,and successfullytransform and apply theirscientific achievements at YTG, while simultaneously creating economic benefits.
On behalf of YTG, Cheng Ruihan welcomed the leaders from KUST, hoping that YTG and KUST can continue to increase their cooperation,to establish more effective cooperation channels in terms of market concepts, enterprise demands and other aspects. In furthering cooperation, YTG will support innovation andcreate a good environment for scientific and technological cooperation. They will also increase investment in scientific and technological theoretical researchwhichcan promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. In these ways there will be more in-depth cooperation between YTG and KUST.
During the discussion, both sides had in-depth exchanges on the achievements of scientific and technological strategic cooperation that have occurred since the signing oftheframework agreement related to smelting high-precision materials and talent cultivation. These included the cultivation of engineering doctors and the joint construction of a transfer platform for scientific and technological achievements.
In the afternoon, the KUST leaders also went to YTG’stwobranches operating tinand cooper businesses as well as a branch in Kafang Town to carry out on-site research. They conducted the field trip to examine the operation of the “tin alloy vacuum distillation technology” and “50 tons/day large continuous vacuum distillation equipment”, which were jointly developed by KUST’s non-ferrous metal vacuum metallurgy team and Kunming Dingbang Technology Company Limited. They also observed the “big plate tin electrolytic smelting technology equipment” adopted in the tin branch. This equipment was jointly developed by KUST and Yunnan Nanxing Technology Development Company Limited.
According to the examination, all the above equipment is running well, successfully meeting the expected targets, and providing strong technical support for developing the world's most advanced tin metallurgy technology. This is demonstrating KUST’s original and independent innovation capability in the tin metallurgy industry.

The President’s Office, the Organization Department, the School of Science and Technology, the Graduate School, the Asset Management Company Limited, the Faculty of Metallurgical and Energy Engineering, the Faculty of Land Resources Engineering, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and other faculties and functional departments all attended the activity.
