KUST receives a donation of 35 million yuan from Chi Wah Foundation

On December 8th, KUST and Chi Wah Foundation signed a donation agreement. Chi Wah Foundation donated RMB 35 million to KUST. Mr. LIN Gaoyan, Chairman of Chi Wah Foundation, attended the donation ceremony and delivered a speech online. Director General of Department of Education of Yunnan Province ZHOU Rong, Deputy Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Committee of Higher Education CHEN Shibo, Consultant of Chi Wah Foundation Mr. CHEN Yuankui and his wife, Consultant of Chi Wah Foundation and the contact person of the project Mr. PAN Xubo, project assistant Ms. CHEN Qian, Secretary of KUST Party Committee ZHANG Yingjie, Vice President MA Wenhui attended the donation ceremony.

 

 

CHEN Shibo presided over the donation ceremony, ZHANG Yingjie gave a thanks speech, and MA Wenhui accepted the donation on behalf of KUST and signed the donation agreement. In her speech, Zhang said that the donation of RMB 35 million from the Chi Wah Foundation to KUST has fully reflected the vision and social commitment of Chairman LIN Gaoyan and Chi Wah Foundation in supporting the educational development. It has shown their full support for the educational development of Yunnan Province and their concern and help to KUST. With a grateful and diligent heart, KUST will make fair use of the funds to improve the teaching conditions, improve the quality of education, cultivate more outstanding talents for the society, and make contributions to Yunnan's economic and social development and the strategy of "making Yunnan Province strong in civil aviation." According to the agreement, the funds will be used mainly for the upgrading of discipline construction and the teaching and experimental equipment of the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics of KUST, which will add strong impetus to the high-quality development of the civil aviation and aviation disciplines of KUST.

 

 

After the donation ceremony, Chi Wah Foundation and its delegation visited the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics and had a talk. Related persons and teachers from the University Party Committee Office, Division of Teaching Administration, Division of International Cooperation (Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs), Division of Campus Construction and Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics attended the talk.

 

 

Chi Wah Foundation is a non-profit charitable fund company registered in Hong Kong by Mr. LIN Gaoyan and his family in 1992. In 2017, as an overseas non-governmental organization, it established the "Chi Wah Foundation (Hong Kong) Beijing Representative Office" in Beijing. The name of the foundation “Chi Wah" means wisdom revitalizes China. In the past 28 years, Chi Wah Foundation, adhering to the tenet of "serving the country through science and education and giving back to the society", has been actively donating money to help students. In China, it has made charitable donations to universities such as Peking University, Fudan University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Nanchang University, Jiangxi Ceramic Institute and Guizhou University. It has successively donated 35 Chi Wah Middle Schools in Guizhou, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces. Mr. LIN Gaoyan, Chairman of Chi Wah Foundation Limited, is a powerful and influential entrepreneur and patriot in Hong Kong. He is currently a Director of the Education Development Foundation (Overseas) of Fudan University, a Chief Officer of the Lee Shau Kee Foundation, a member of the Council of the University of Hong Kong and a director of the University of Hong Kong Foundation for Educational Development & Research Limited. In 2017, he was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) by the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

 

In 2020, Chi Wah Foundation made a charitable donation to Yunnan for the first time. At the donation agreement’s signing ceremony, Chi Wah Foundation signed donation agreements with representatives of Southwest Forestry University and six middle schools in Yunnan, with a total donation of 97 million yuan.
