YIG and Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. visit KUST

On August 31st, WANG Dong, Vice President of Yunnan Provincial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., and LU Wei, Chairman of Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and his party of nine people visited KUST. Vice Chair of the University Council TIAN Jun, Vice President MA Wenhui, heads of relevant departments of YIG and Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and heads of School of International Education, President Office, Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics and City College attended the meeting.



On behalf of the school, Vice Chair Tian welcomed the visit of YIG. He briefly introduced KUST’s teaching and research development in recent years, while showing her excellent scientific research achievements. He hoped that both sides could take this project as an opportunity to design and carry out more forms of training cooperation projects at home and abroad to help the construction and development of Chinese enterprises abroad. Vice President Ma introduced the current operation of the project and the situation of international students. He said that KUST is willing to actively invest in the training of talents for national and Yunnan priority projects to serve the Belt and Road Initiative.


Mr. Wang introduced the overall situation of YIG and Cambodia Angkor International Airport. Mr. Lu introduced the progress of airport construction and the next step of the work plan. He said that with the comprehensive progress of the construction of the Angkor International Airport Project, Angkor has an urgent need for professionals in civil aviation airport engineering, aviation technology, transportation, communication engineering, logistics engineering, mechanical engineering, and other fields. He hoped that KUST and YIG would cooperate closely to cultivate talents and support  the construction of Angkor Airport.



After the meeting, the delegation from YIG and AAC visited various laboratories and the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics’ simulated flight classroom.


In February 2019, the “International Undergraduates Training Program of the Kingdom of Cambodia”, which is jointly created by YIG, Association of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN & Samdech Kittiprittbandit Scholarship Students (A.M.T) of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Angkor International Airport Company and KUST, was successfully launched. The first batch of 21 Cambodian students was enrolled in KUST. Angkor Airport Project is an international hub airport built by the Royal Government of Cambodia, one of the critical projects of China-Cambodia strategic cooperation, and a concrete embodiment of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the Rectangular Strategy proposed by the Cambodian governments.
