KUST Cross-border Economic Cooperation Training Course Conducted in Mandalay

On November 17th, a training course for sustainable economic cooperation between Myanmar and China was launched at the Hotel Mandalay, Myanmar. Hosted by People’s Government of Yunnan Province and supervised by Yunnan Department of Commerce. The training course is jointly organized by KUST’s ASEAN Research Center and Myanmar Economic and Social Development Research Center. LI Libei, the Vice Consul General of Mandalay Consulate of China; YANG Sheng, Commercial Consul, U Kyaw Min, President of the Mandalay Region Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, heads of Mandalay Parliament and other departments attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

 

 

The training was conducted in the form of a combination of focused learning, discussions and survey. During the three-day training, experts from KUST’s ASEAN Research Center, Myanmar YEZI Agricultural University and Myanmar Economic and Social Development Research Center conducted training on the topics of China-Myanmar industrial cooperation, China-Myanmar border trade and the development of industrial parks. Survey on the Myo Thar Industrial Zone was arranged on the last day of training and all participants visited the Chinese invested automobile assembling factory and the river port in the Zone.

 

30 trainees from Mandalay region, Shan State and Kachin State have participated in the course. The training have been highly recognized by all the participants and the local medias. The Global New Light Myanmar, The Voice etc. reported that the training will clear unbalanced information about the cross border economic cooperation and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor construction.
