HPP Apple Juice: KUST Recent Research Fruit

On September 26, RUAN Chengfa, the Governor of Yunnan Province, visited the Haisheng Apple Base in Yongfeng Town, Zhaoyang District, Zhaotong City, during his field investigation of “One County, One Industry” Project, referring to “Every county in Yunnan has its own leading industry”. He also drank some HPP apple juice, one of the research results of Yi Junjie’s research team from KUST Faculty of Agriculture and Food.

Governor RUAN pointed out that the key technology of deep processing of fruits and vegetables represented by ultra-high pressure (HPP) should be implemented in Yunnan as soon as possible to build an influential brand for green food, promoting the rapid development of “One county, One industry” Project, and making Yunnan a strong agricultural province. At the same time, he encouraged young research talents to apply these advanced scientific research results to specific industrial development, and to promote industrial development, thus realizing the integration of primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and improving the added value of agricultural products.

Prof. YI Junjie’s research team has long been engaged in the research of deep processing of fruits and vegetables. The team, taking into consideration the development status of apple industry in Zhaotong City, developed the ultra-high pressure NFC apple juice by using locally-planted apples as the major raw material and adopting the international advanced non-thermal sterilization technology-ultra-high pressure (HPP) technology. At present, the research team has implemented an industrialization project for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Zhaotong City.
