KUST Signed Cooperative Development Agreement with NIIT, India

On April 4, Mr. Kamal Dhuper, Country Head of NIIT China Limited and Senoir Vice President of NIIT Limited, visited Yunnan Provincial Department of Education and held talks on a school-enterprise cooperation project in computational science with Kunming University of Science and Technology(KUST), followed by the signing of a Cooperative Development Agreement. The meeting was attended by ZHU Huashan, Deputy Director-General of Yunnan Provincial Department of Education; WANG Xueqin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of KUST; WANG Nengmin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and President Assistant of KUST. The main leaders of the Higher Education Division, the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Division and the Vocational and Adult Education Division of the Provincial Education Department, the President Office of KUST, the Division of Overseas Cooperation and other relevant leaders were also present and witnessed the signing of the Cooperative Development Agreement between KUST and NIIT.

ZHU Huashan, Deputy Director-General of the Provincial Education Department, warmly welcomed Kamal Dhuper and his team before introducing to the guests the current educational development and higher education institutions in Yunnan province. He pointed out that KUST has developed rapidly in recent years and has made special contributions for Yunnan Province to achieve the goal of turning Yunnan into a place of "green energy", "green food" and "healthy living destination", which are among the top eight industries in the province. Besides, as the disciplines are closely integrated with the industrial development of Yunnan Province, the Provincial Education Department will provide extensive support for the cooperation between KUST and Indian NIIT Company with the hope to set a new benchmark for school-enterprise cooperation in Yunnan Province, promote the transformation and upgrading of local industries and train more professionals whose knowledge and skills are of distinguishing features and who are much needed for national development.

President WANG Xueqin said that NIIT is more than welcome to cooperate with KUST in computational science and KUST will do everything possible to solve the difficulties and problems encountered in the process of cooperation. This is also a positive response to Yunnan Province's call to seize the opportunity of digital economy and build a "digital Yunnan". He pointed out that the current digital economy is about to enter a period of vigorous development and we must grasp the opportunity with a strong sense of historical responsibility as it comes once in a blue moon and may disappear before one realizes it. The cooperation with NIIT  will make it possible to provide extensive training to fundamental professionals in digital economy that are in short supply in Yunnan Province. At the same time, there are many cooperation fields such as joint laboratories and big data that can be promoted, which plays a very good role in establishing first-class disciplines in KUST. He stressed that NIIT, a world-renowned Indian IT training and education institution, which sets out to provide talent support for the development of Yunnan's digital economy by launching school-enterprise cooperation project in computational science, should be given strong support and help by Yunnan Province. Under the right leadership of the Provincial Education Department, KUST will give full play to its advantages in training practical talents, introduce NIIT high-quality educational resources in computational science, improve the quality of vocational and technical undergraduate education, optimize the quality of the teaching staff, build a "digital" talent pool in Yunnan, and make contributions to the construction and development of "digital Yunnan" in our province.

At the ceremony, witnessed by ZHU Huashan, Deputy Director-General of Education Department of Yunnan and other leaders and guests, President WANG Xueqin signed a Cooperative Development Agreement on behalf of KUST with Mr. Kamal Dhuper, Country Head of NIIT China Limited and Senoir Vice President of NIIT Limited.
