KUST held the Opening Ceremony of “The First Cambodian Undergraduate Students Training Program”

On February 25th, the opening ceremony of “The First Cambodian Undergraduate Students Training Program” was held in Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST). H.E Preap Manel, State Secretary of the Cambodian Prime Minister's Office and Executive & Financial Director of Hun Sen Foundation, LIU Haijian, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Board of Directors of Yunnan Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., TIAN Jun, Deputy Secretary of KUST’s Party Committee, and MA Wenhui, Vice President of KUST attended the ceremony.

 

Before the ceremony, relevant persons from Cambodian Prime Minister’s Office, Yunnan Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., together with TIAN Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, MA Wenhui Vice President of KUST, and the head of the School of International Education and Division of Overseas Cooperation (KUST), had a meeting on educational cooperation. Three parties reached a consensus on “The First Cambodian Undergraduate Students Training Program” and signed the minutes of meeting through serious consideration and negotiation.

TIAN Jun, Deputy Secretary of KUST’s Party Committee, delivered the welcome speech. On behalf of KUST, he firstly extended a warm welcome to the guests and 21 Cambodian students, and then expressed a heartfelt gratitude to Prince and Lady Hun Sen Scholarship Association of Cambodia and Yunnan Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. for their efforts to promote this program. Also, he highly appraised the trilateral cooperation. TIAN Jun stated that “the friendly cooperation prominently embodies the ever-deepening friendship between China and Cambodia, laying a solid foundation for the consolidation of exchange as well as cooperation between educational services in both countries”. He wished 21 Cambodian students who entered KUST for their degrees of undergraduate and graduate education an academic success and a happy life, and expecting them to become excellent international talents.

 

 

On behalf of Prince and Lady Hun Sen Scholarship Association, H.E Preap Manel expressed his sincere gratitudes to KUST and Yunnan Investment Holding Group Yunnan Investment Group for their support. He said “The relationship between China and Cambodia are historically friendly, and this cooperation will enhance the development of education of both countries and further promote the relationship between the two countries to a new stage”. He expected the 21 students to study hard in KUST to be eligible to promote the cultural exchange between the two countries.

 

LIU Haijian, vice president of the Board of Directors said that the smooth progress of this program opened the prelude of the comprehensive cooperation among our three parties, and Yunnan Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., as a “going-out” enterprise”, was willing to and expected to broader the cooperation with KUST. He also emphasized that Yunnan Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. would continue to work cooperatively with KUST for training the first 21 Cambodian students contribute to the long-term development of the friendship, culture and education of China and Cambodia.
