Vice President Yi Jianhong Visited Universities and Institutions in Bangladesh

From December 9th to 11th, a delegation led by Vice President Yi Jianhong paid a visit to North South University, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University and Rajshahi Chess Academy in Bangladesh to accelerate the internationalization strategy of KUST and promote the cooperation and exchange in higher education between China and Bangladesh.



On December 9th, during the talk with North South University, President Atiqul Islam hoped to make full use of this visit to promote the deep understanding and exchanges between both parties. President Yi hoped that both parties could cooperate in teacher-student exchange and scientific research. Both parties also discussed the cooperation in information communication, artificial intelligence as well as other professional fields, and different cooperation moods such as the joint training mode of undergraduate and postgraduate students, the mode of student exchange and short-term exchange. The delegation also visited the Confucius Institute at the North South University and learned about the institute-running status and had an exchange with the teachers and students there.



On December 10th, the delegation visited Dhaka University. After being debriefed by the overall introduction to the disciplines, scientific and technological achievements and international cooperation of the university, President Yi hoped that the two universities could make full use of the strengths of both parties to achieve optimal win-win international cooperation for mutual benefits from scratch, especially deep cooperation and exchange in engineering technology. At the meeting, President Yi, on behalf of KUST, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Dhaka University. Then the delegation visited some colleges, such as Economics College, Law School Department and Engineering College, and laboratories to have a better understanding about the running of these disciplines.



On December 11th, the two sides gave a brief introduction to the overall information of their own university respectively at the Rajshahi University in Bangladesh, including the discipline classification, development status, research results and international development goals, and also initially discussed the cooperation based on their respective regional and discipline advantages. A consensus was reached on the signing of a cooperation memorandum. The delegation was invited to participate in the annual awarding ceremony and cultural performance of the Chess College of Rajshahi University.


The visit reached its expected outcomes and will promote the cooperation between KUST and South Asian countries, effectively further the international development strategy of KUST, thus to serve the “the Belt and Road” Initiative and Yunnan Province's “South Asia and Southeast Asia Radiation Center” strategy in a more effective way. A number of local media had widely reported the visit to the universities during the visit of the delegation.
