Exhibition of Traditional Crafts and Art Works of Bai Nationality Debuted at China Academy of Art

On the morning of September 2nd, National Art Foundation 2018 Annual Communication Exchange Project—The second “Touring Exhibition of Bai Nationality’s Traditional Crafts and Art Works” of Kunming University of Science and Technology was held in Hall 201, Building 18, Xiangshan Center Campus of China Academy of Art. The categories of the exhibition contain Bai Nationality’s arts and crafts, pictures, images, works of art and reproductions of cultural relics, etc., and more than 150 pieces of various arts and crafts of the Bai Nationality have been exhibited, showing the dynamic development of the Bai Nationality arts and crafts.

 

 

At the opening ceremony, Zhou Fengyue, the project leader and Vice President of KUST, said that the history and culture of the Bai Nationality which is the larger ethnic groups of Chinese ethnic minorities are profound, the folk art magnificent, the kinds of folk crafts colorful, and the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage relatively better. It is hoped that the development history and origin of Yunnan Bai Nationality’s folk crafts can be sorted out through this activity, and the Bai Nationality’s culture and art and also the magnificent folk crafts can be promoted through the form of National Touring Exhibitions, so that people can have a better understanding of the culture and art of Bai Nationality.

 

 

This touring exhibition is the first time "The Exhibition of Bai Nationality Traditional Crafts and Art Works" project of KUST was unveiled at the art collage. It aims to give full play to the role of KUST as a provincial key comprehensive university to the cultural and artistic construction of the western borderland, to spread the seeds of traditional culture in the minds of many future art workers through the touring exhibition of the folk crafts and culture of Bai Nationality and to make more people know the culture and art of Bai Nationality, promote the dissemination of Bai Nationality’s folk crafts which is the intangible cultural heritage and better inherit and develop the traditional crafts of Bai Nationality by academic discussions and exchanges and listening to the opinions and the suggestions from different experts and scholars.

 

 

"The Touring Exhibition of Bai Nationality Traditional Crafts and Art Works" of KUST is the National Art Foundation 2018 Annual Communication and Promotion project, launched in September, 2017 with a period of two years. The first exhibition has been completed in Xiamen which was opened on August 14th. While the development history and origin of Yunnan Bai Nationality folk crafts are sorted out in the project, culture and magnificent fork crafts of Bai Nationality is promoted through the form of national touring exhibitions so as to make people know more about the culture and art of Bai Nationality. On the basis of protecting traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage, the traditional crafts of the Bai Nationality will be revitalized, the outstanding folk arts and crafts of the Bai Nationality promoted and disseminated, and the artistic value of the outstanding folk crafts of the Bai Nationality carried forward.

 

 

It is reported that with KUST as the subject of project implementation and famous Curator, Professor Guan Yuda of Yunnan University, Xu Jia, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Communication of KUST, Vice Professor Hou Xiaofeng and Xie Mengwei as the core members of the project, the project is led by Vice President Zhou Fengyue, and applied jointly with the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center of Dali Autonomous Prefecture of Bai Nationality, Yunnan Province as a cooperative institution. The project is another approved fund project for communication and promotion of the “Bai Nationality’s Traditional Arts and Crafts” obtained by the KUST after the KUST was granted with the project “Bai Nationality’s Folk Crafts and Talent Cultivation of Contemporary Tourism Product Design” funded by the 2016 National Art Foundation.
