China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Approved KUST to Build 20 Scientific Research Platforms

China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association(CNIA) recently issued a document on Approval of the Building of 20 Research Platforms by Kunming University of Science and Technology(KUST) Including Innovation Laboratory of Intelligent Mine Geographic Information Integration, and authorized KUST to build 20 research platforms. This marks the progress made by KUST in developing key technologies in China nonferrous metals industry and regional industry with unique advantage, and also lays a solid foundation for building metallurgy as a first-class discipline.         

To implement the Guidelines of National Program for Medium- and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development(2010-2020) and the 13th Five-Year Plan of China Nonferrous Metals Industry, CNIA cooperates with Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Yunnan Province, Aluminum Corporation of China Limited(CHALCO) and China Nonferrous Metal Mining Corporation Limited(CNMC) in the construction of KUST through such measures as the approval of building research platforms, giving impetus to transformation, upgrading and innovative development of China nonferrous metals industry.

According to the construction requirement, KUST will increase the research investment and enhance innovation capabilities, will accelerate the application of scientific achievements and improve research capacity. Meanwhile, KUST aims to promote the combination involving production, teaching and research, and cultivate more talents for China nonferrous metals Industry, making significant contribution to the regional economic and social development, and the national strategy of developing country into a sci-tech power.
