Grand Opening of 2nd Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games at KUST

The opening ceremony of the 2nd Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games & The 4th South and Southeast Asia College Students Culture and Sports Week-Kunming hosted by Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), was held in the gymnasium of Chenggong campus on May 21.



  Guests invited to the opening ceremony include: YANG Shaocheng, Chief of Yunnan International Regional Cooperation Office, REN Yuanzheng, the Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, Dato Siow Chen Pin, the Consul General of Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming, the consuls from Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, Royal Cambodia Consulate General in Kunming and Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kunming, Nguyen Duy Quyet, the President of Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports, Vietnam, Nguyen Thu Thuy, the Vice President of Hanoi Foreign Trade University, Vietnam, Nguyen Duc Lang, the Vice President of TNU University of Sciences, Vietnam, Vira Anolac, the Vice President of Souphanouvong University, Laos, WANG Xueqin, the President of KUST, ZHOU Fengyue, the Vice President of KUST, and related leaders from Yunnan Provincial Department of Education and Yunnan Sports Bureau. 


ZHOU Fengyue, the Vice President of KUST presided over the opening ceremony.



     President WANG Xueqin delivered the opening speech. On behalf of over 70,000 teachers and students in KUST, he extended heartfelt welcome to all the leaders and guests attending this event. President WANG stated that the 2nd Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games & the 4th South and Southeast Asia College Students Culture and Sports Week-Kunming signifies a solid move towards expanding cultural exchanges with oversea universities. President WANG added that it is also a good opportunity to promote the face-to-face communication and cooperation among youths from Yunnan China, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Taiwan China. Finally President WANG expressed his ardent hopes and wishes.

     At the opening ceremony, Miss Thanunya kuntachit from Thailand Royal University of Technology and Miss LI Siqi from KUST spoke on behalf of the foreign students and KUST students respectively.

Mr. YANG Shaocheng, announced the opening of The 2nd Lancang-Mekong College Students’ Goodwill Games & The 4th South and Southeast Asia College Students Culture and Sports Week-Kunming.



This event with several activities will last for ten days. More than 500 young people of 28 universities from 8 countries will participate in the event.

     To enhance the open education, speed up the cooperation with neighboring countries, make full use of the geographical advantages of Yunnan, actively promote  communication between students from Yunnan universities and students from South Asia and Southeast Asia universities, KUST has initiated the “the South and Southeast Asia College Students Culture and Sports Week-Kunming” since 2015. This event helps to develop friendship and create a long-term and stable platform for cultural exchanges. In 2015 and 2016, KUST successfully hosted this cultural and sports exchange event twice.
