KUST Student Wins 2017 China Red Star Original Design Award

The award ceremony of the 12th Red Star Design Award 2017 was recently held in Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center. YAN Yangzhen, undergraduate student of Faculty of Art and Communication of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), won China Red Star Original Design Award for his product design “Lollipop” Spatula under the guidance of Prof. Wang Kunqian. YAN Yangzhen attended the award ceremony and received the highest honor in Chinese industrial design for KUST for the first time.

China Red Star Design Award crowned as the Chinese Oscar in design, is the most authoritative and influential design award with the largest number of entries. It is honored as “the only internationally influential Chinese design award” by CCTV. Themed on “Better Designs Better Life”, the 12th Red Star Design Award aims to encourage enterprises and designers to improve innovation capability, product quality and brand image. In 2017, 10,044 products from 2313 companies around the world were submitted as entries for “Red Star Design Award”, and 2,444 products for “Red Star Original Design Award”.
