KUST President PENG Jinhui Elected as Academician of CAE

Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), is the highest academic title and a lifetime honor in the field of engineering, science and technology. On November 27, Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) held a ceremony in Beijing  announcing the list of the newly elected academicians. Prof. PENG Jinhui, President of Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), has been elected as academician of CAE.

 Professor and doctoral supervisor PENG Jinhui got his undergraduate, master and Ph.D degree in nonferrous metallurgy in KUST. He undertook his postdoctoral studies in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology from 1994 to 1996 and later in Brunel University with a postdoctoral fellowship of Royal Society from 1999 to 2000. Currently he is KUST president and director of Special Metallurgy Committee of the Nonferrous Metals Society of China. He is also the alternate member of the 19th Central Committee of CPC. He majors in basic theory of microwave metallurgy, equipment technology and engineering application research and has created new technology of microwave metallurgy which applied in the extraction process of several metals and has been transferred to companies and institutions at home and abroad. He has won two second prizes of National Technological Invention Award, one first prize and two second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, and the Innovation Award of Science and Technology funded by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, etc. He also had 68 patents for invention and published over 140 SCI papers and 6 monographs.
